Hello Everyone,

I'll be visiting Cozumel and staying at Cozumel Palace. Can the resort credits be used towards scuba dives including night dives. Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Best to ask the hotel or dive shop there directly. Have a wonderful trip!

Yes they can. Most days they run multiple boats. I don't think any of them are fast. You will do a two tank morning dive, come back, and maybe an afternoon dive. if you're not in a hurry it's the closest thing to free diving I have found.

Even if you get an answer of 'yes', you should dig deeper:

Check if there is a 'fee' or additional taxes you must pay. I think there is a 16% fee of some kind.

Be sure there is not a cap (maximum) on the credit that you can spend for diving. For example, I've read you can use credits at the spa, but no more than $270 worth. After that, you have to pay full price.

Check to see if those paying with credits have different rules or less availability. They may limit the number of 'spots' for credit users, and then fill them quickly. "Sorry, it is full, unless you want to pay with cash".

Check to see if there are different booking rules for credit users, such as 'at least 48 hour advanced booking only' or 'no more than two reservations at a time allowed'.

Check the rate structure, and see if there is a huge cash discount. It would suck if dives were $150 per trip, but cash customers get a 33% discount.

There are lots of way to reduce the value of the credits.

Please understand, I don't have any experience or knowledge of the actual situation. I do think that these are possible areas of frustration if not completely researched before booking.

Book your resort credit dives with the Palace's Aqua Safari shop NOW! There has been no shortage of nasty stories posted on Trip Advisor under the Palace Resort reviews posted by divers who showed up and tried to use their resort credits for diving only to be told all boats had been booked far in advance. The Palace is a BIG place with lots of divers and Aqua Safari has a FEW boats. Space is very limited and if you manage to get on a boat it will be packed.

Resort credits can only be used for two tank morning dives. The cost is $79 worth of credits, you do pay the 16% tax and $2.50 marine park fee. Equipment rental is additional and credits can't be used. There is no limit on the amount of credits you can use for diving, there is a $300 limit in the spa.

Enjoy

Believe me... There's no such thing as a free lunch. At the end of the day the Cozumel Palace is one of the most (if not the most) expensive AI's on the island. It does get numerous great and good reviews but, then again, it should for the absolutely crazy prices they charge compared to others. Personally, we can stay and dive, eat and drink for three weeks for what one week would cost us at the Cozumel Palace. It all depends on what your priorities are and what is important to you. My #1 priority is diving... After seeing 30 lobsters UW I don't really need to see another on my plate for dinner but that's just me.

Now Lionfish are a different story

LOL! I do remember that moster you shot in DEC! Biggest one I've ever seen and I saw it clipped! What did that thing weigh? Like 5-6 lbs or something?
