+1 for Casa Mexicana. Nice pool, great view, close to everything. If price is a concern Suites Bahia is a sister hotel that's close by.

I've stayed solo at both and always had a great time.

I'll second the vote for the Barracuda. My wife and I have stayed there on 3 different trips now.

The Barracuda is certainly not glamorous. But it's around $80/day if I recall correctly. It's a block or so south of the downtown cruise ship pier so you can easily walk anywhere and you're directly across the street from the Mega (think Super Wal-Mart).

The rooms on the 3rd floor are much better than the 1st and 2nd floor rooms. Which means they were probably rehabbed a little in the early 90's. :p.

I wrote a review on Trip Advisor a few years ago. Here's the link if you're interested. Best budget hotel for divers in Cozumel - Review of Barracuda, Cozumel, Mexico - TripAdvisor

"Nice pool"? At Casa Mexicana? Sushi Boy must be a fan of Bonsai trees and all other miniatures. Granted, the Casa Mexicana pool is larger than a bathtub - well, most bathtubs.

That was funny. Anyway, after spending 2-3 hours total underwater diving and then another hour in the water during a beach surface interval (if one so desires) who needs to come back to an olympic size pool? Who even needs a beach for that matter? Granted, the pool at the Casa Mexicana is small and only about 4' deep but it is nice to take a cool dip in from time to time between cocktails while lounging on the pool deck watching the cruising balloon-headed tourons as the stumble back to their floating ashtrays.

Thanks for all the help y'all. I just booked the Casa Mexicana through Tres Pelicanos. The countdown begins!!! 12 days!!

Without a doubt you made the right decision! Best hotel/location for your needs, best dive op, and all at a fantastic price. Wish we were going but we have another 7 months of waiting for Coz again. Do post a review of your time at the Casa and diving with 3P's here when you return (I know you'll have nothing less than a rave review to post). ENJOY!
