I will be in Cosumel for one day by cruise ship. No I will not be scheduling my dives through the cruise line thank you.

We would want to get a 2 tank dive in, 3 would be even better.

Any particular suggestion/ good experiences anyone has had with particular dive shops in Cozumel.

Thanks,

You might also want to check the Cozumel FAQ in the Cozumel subsection. "Best" dive operator has been discussed there often.

How many people in your group? If you have at least 4, I think the best choice would be to charter your own dive boat for the day. Dive With Martin is one of many that do private charters and it is likely to be one of the least expensive. DWM charges $350 for up to 4 divers.

***EDIT*** Dive with Martin did recently score a 100% approval rating from the readers of Scubadiving Magazine. I'd take one negative review with a grain of salt.

Also check Aldora's Diving from Cruise Ships

This question has been asked LOTS of times here on SB. Try doing a title search for "cozumel"

Blue XT is probably the dive op recommended the most on this board. I don't know anything about Dive with Martin first hand, but there was a VERY negative review I recently read about them in the intro forum. Do a search for "Dive with Martin" and you should find it.

There are many wonderful operators on Cozumel, and everyone has their favorite. In my opinion Jeremy of Living Underwater is best but he may be hard to book. If not him try Liquid Blue or Aldora. All have websites.
My biggest advise would be to pick an operator that offers high capacity steel cylinders (120 or 100 cu ft.) and small fast boats. To my knowledge Aldora started this about ten years ago and the extra air makes a big difference on the enjoyment of the deep drift dives availible in Cozumel.

next time stay awhile

I just finished a cruise to Cozumel via Carnival. My wife and I took two single tank dives through Sand Dollar. They were very helpful and considerate. They know the reefs very well. I would highly suggest using them since your stay will be so brief.
