Someone told my wife that there are crocodiles in Coz? Is this true?
I told her, "Come on. Even if it's true, it's like saying there are bears here in Washington."
So, what's the real deal on the crocks in Coz. If I request it, will Christi take me on a crocodile dive??

Not sure about Cozumel but i've seen definitely crocodiles in Cancun, I guess this would make sense for Cozumell too.

Well, it's not like there's much danger of running into one, but yes, there are some crocs in the park down on the south end.

What Gordon said... If you take the Southern Lighthouse "tour" they will take you to the lagoon to see them. We got there pretty late so we kind of rushed through that part of the tour.

It's an interesting trip if you have some free time, nothing earthshattering but nice. The climb to the top of the lighthouse almost killed me ;)

I've never seen a live one on Coz (Didn't have time to do the Lighthouse tour), but while in a cave there, I DID see a rather large reptilian skull. About 2ft in length. It kinda gave me the willies, knowing I was standing, waist deep in muddy waters, waiting for some unknown monster to chomp down on my leg!!

I was glad when we entered the cave and cleared the bad vis (where I saw the skull).

I was on an Aldora boat a couple years ago when the captain stopped and pointed to a dead cayman crocodile in the water. It was floating belly up and was approximately five feet long from nose to tail. Very cool looking. I was told they keep down the wild dog/cat population!

There is a beach club south of Iberostar where shops commonly take people for SIs. If you go through the restaurant, past the bathrooms, there is a swamp on the other side of a dirt road with crocs.

Did you take that picture, Coachwah?

They are part of the lighthouse tour. The "tour guide" will bring along some chicken to throw to them. You are on a dock over the swamp. It's not much different than being at a zoo. The same researve has sea turtles beach when in season. You can go out at night with the park staff to witness. I'd go to see that but not the crocs.
