I may have to cancel my trip....some health problems popped up for my wife. Next week is really just a monitoring stage, nothing good or bad can happen, but she definitely can't travel to Mexico.

I'll lose the entire cost of our trip due to the late cancellation, but she's such a trooper she is fighting with me to go. Meaning, she threatened to go pack my gear and personally drag me to the airport while she stays home.

Even so, I don't think I'll be going at this point...

That's terrible. Do you have trip insurance (I think even DAN dive insurance may cover this, though I'm not positive)? Either way, I would get a letter from the doctor stating the reason for your cancelation and try my luck with getting refunds.

Well, I'm working directly with the travel agent on any refunds I may be able to get. I can't rely on the LDS playing middle man in this case.

Though I may get hit with some serious penalties, there may be something they can do so that I don't get hit with the entire cost.

Boy, it was damn hard calling the agent to cancel this trip. The weather up here in NY is going to feel EXTRA cold for me next week.
