We had a most awsome time on the island as well as Tulum. The island's recovery is remarkable when you look at how little has been done in N.O. due to political coruption and other factors. It's even kinda cool to look at how much damage was done and how fast Maw Nature and people both recover. The diving was very good to awsome. The last day the vis went to crap so we missed devels throat but still had a good day. Some of my pics even turned out pretty great. I can't wait to go back to the area.
Now, about our ride home.....
The flight from Coz to Houston was very bumpy but OK. Houston to LA, well, thats where it gets, different, for most anyway, kinda normal for me. A guy on the flight got very ill and "passed out" near the restroom. The medical aid request was put out so I went. Also showing up was a very old psych doc and an oncologist. I went through the drill, figured out the most probable cause and he was feeling much better. Went back to my seat for a bit then went back to recheck only to find he was feeling realy bad again then out go the lights again followed shortly there after by a lot of vomit. Being the genius I am I stuck my hand in the way to deflect it from his wife and got soaked from head to toe for my trouble....Did an IV and some meds and he was feeling much better but I stayed with him for the remainder of the flight, covered in puke and barefoot on a now soaked carpet. He was better thought so it's all good. After we landed, an hour and a half later, I give report and turn him over to the LA medics. Now I need my checked through luggage to get a change of clothes. No can do says the airlines due to security reasons. So I call the hotel for a ride. They show up and I pick up my bag only to have more wet stuff run out on my feet. MY $75 BOTTLE OF TEQUILLA HAS BROKEN IN MY BAG!!!!. We make it to the motel and head right to the shower fully dressed to wash me and my only cloths. Rainy night in LA so nothing dries but my GF has a dry T shirt for me anyway. Six hour ride in AC with wet shorts back to Hawaii.
I miss Coz, I miss being a medic full time but I don't miss having people puke on me all the time.
Can't wait to do it again.
