Beast now has a hankering for Thailand! At our club meeting tonight, the speak was a fellow that leads trips to Thailand. His slide show was amazing. The dive pictures were something else and the topside pics were simply amazing.

Now THAT is a scary thought! Is that good or bad?
We've been drooling over the photos we see for months. Talking to this guy last night was a real eye opener. It's not nearly as expensive as we thought, too. The only problem is getting the extended time off from work. I don't think we could do a trip like that in a week, at least not do justice to it. If I'm going that far, I want to see everything!Yes...we could have our own digital showdown and compare systems. Keep your fingers crossed!
Dee, 1 week is technically doable but highly not recommended.
When I was in the US, I would not consider coming back to Thailand unless I have a good 3 weeks vacation. Mainly because I have a horrible time recovering from jetlag. You are looking at about 12 hours time difference and about 24+ hours of traveling time, so it takes awhile to be back to normal again.
Of course if you want to make this a total dive vacation, once to get to Bangkok, beside Thailand, other excellent divespot such as Peurto Gallera in the Philippines, Manado/Lembeh Strait in Indonesia is easily accessible by plane just a few hours away for around $300 round trip. Of course there are plenty of other sites in Malaysia/Indonesia/the Philippines as well, some are easy to get to, some take up to 36 hours to get to (because of location, connecting flight schedule, rather than distance).

cool pics SSRA30, was in Similian back in April, at that time I didn't have any UW camera equipment, am now shopping one for my next trip in January, needs all the help I can get from this board. you guys are awesome.
