Common apps connecting back home I'm not to worried about. I'm just not that paranoid.

I just am completely against any sort of information they could be gathering. Oh.. so I can get more intriguing spam mail? They don't need to know what I'm looking at.

It's not anything I'm worried about; I just don't think it's any of their business.

One good thing to do is download something like AD-Aware and run it regularly (I schedule mine to run nightly). This will find applications, cookies, registry settings that are reporting information on your computer (like Gator, doubleclick, etc.).

Hey Spectre, I'm running Zonealarm right now. Do you think I should switch over to Kerio instead? Do you think it will make much of a difference? I'm just looking for something temporary.

For the time being, I'm not going to buy the NAT; mostly because I'll be moving back to Canada in 6 months and I plan on dumping everything but the hard drive. But its definitely someting I'll look into with my next system. Thanks guys.

It doesn't hurt to give it a try... www.kerio.com

I've never tried zonealarm, although I've heard of it.

reefguy, thanks for the tip on ad-aware... very cool.
