Not the sneezing or coughing

But appaernetly llike many others, I 've witnessed the chumming. My wife is very suceptable to motion sickness. At the ned of the 1st tank of our first ocean diving, she hit the surface in about 3 foot seas. Not much, but enough for her to lose it.

It's really amazing how much communcation can be achieved just by the look of someones eyes in their mask!

She said afterward that she remembered the instructor telling her NOT to take the reg out of her maouth. Guess he was right.

Oh, yeah...she dove the second tank,no prblem. After an O/W cert in 53 deg/5 ft visibility water, that 85 deg, 200 ft visibilty in Cozumel had her hooked big time.

Amanda once bubbled...

Do you know what "mal-de-merde" means to a french person??????

Means "Sh*t sickness" and not sea sickness!! LOOOOOOOL
The correct french is "mal de mer",
mal = ill
de= of
mer = sea....., whereas merde = poo

It's so funny, my belly hurts
hehehehehehehehehehehehe
:D (I don't want to make fun of you, though, it's just SO funny)

SO funny...so whacked!

I'd try to compliment you en Francais but my written French is SO bad, I'd probably make a worse mistake!

It's so funny, my belly hurts
hehehehehehehehehehehehe

Maybe the merde was because it was a CATTLE boat...

When I go away on a liveaboard, more often than not, by somewhere between the 20th and 25th dive, I'll wind up with a dive or two where I have coughing fits that I chalk up to lots of cold, dry air.

You just have to stop, keep the reg in and ride it out. Eventually, it stops.

I have a not so pleasant story to tell. I have motion sickness. I forget the dive I was on, much less does it matter as the story goes. I ate some eggs, and Bonnie, the motion sickness pill, two hours before we departed for our dive destination. I was just about at that stage when we arrived at our first dive site. The plan was to get me dressed and throw me in so I wasn't bouncing around on deck and would feel better. Once in the water my deflator hose went over my shoulder. I stayed on the surface trying to get it. It seemed like an eternity. Finally I got it and descended down the anchor line, then it hit me. About thirty feet down, out it came. We all know how these things go. I just held the line with one hand and removed the reg with the other. As I felt a break in the upchucking I purged and stuck it in my mouth like a free flow. This was greeted by more of the afore mentioned. I repeated the process. I have to say I really wasn't scared until It was almost over, when you gasp and expect another round, or expect a mouth full of water and your problem multiplies. Things worked out I had a little water in my mask after hitting it with the reg, and a nasty taste in my mouth. I was afraid to swallow some water, so I just bit the bullet. Every thing was fine after that, Until I surfaced !

Isn't by far the most pleasant thing. I have sneezed several times...I've knocked my mask off, but never lost it. It is somewhat painful....but on the plus side you don't have to worry about defoggin the mask

I'm still trying to figure out how you sneeze through your mouth.... Next time I sneeze I will see what I can do!

Couging no problem. On my last trip I got a really bad air con cold and had a day of diving with the nose on the mask filling up - yuk! Then when I cleared the mask I did not do a proper job and it maybe a good de-fogger but is no good if you leave it behind!! Needless to say it all went green......

I know what they say (and have said myself) about diving with a cold but I had no problem equalising - well not that day!

Some Great Advice, and Wild Stories there, thanx!

I guess I just worry because I'm such a SPASTIC Sneezer. It sometimes hurts my back when I sneeze.

Regardless, now I know what to do.

...maybe I should sneeze before every dive to guarantee no fogging up!:eek:

Eeewww...
