Hi,

The wife and I are thinking about going to Costa Rica in Sept/Oct. Has anyone stayed at the Flamingo Marina Resort in Costa Rica and would you recommend it ??? If not, are there any resorts that anyone would recommend ?

Finally, is Sept/Oct a good time to go to Costa Rica ? I know it's the start of their rainy season but I have mixed feelings. I've heard this is the best time to go diving but possibly not the best time fr on shore activities. Any thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Bob

Hi Bob,
I would suggest to stay close to Playas del Coco and dive with the local operators. In Flamingo you don't have a town with bars and restaurants. Just the Marina and a lot of secured Villas. That's it.
Playas del Coco offers a large variety of places with good food, music and life!
September and Octobre are the peak of the green season. I hope you're lucky with the rain, but Octobre can be nasty. It won't effect the diving too much, but shore activities might be.

Happy diving!
Oliver

There are 2 Flamingo Resorts 1 on the Marina and the other the Beach. without having to do a lot of typing I pasted some info below. I was In Costa Rica this past Oct and I was lucky with the rain, only 1 day which would last a short 10-15 min and quit. If you would like more info or a quote you can PM me or email.

I have stayed at the Flamingo Marina Hotel and it is an acceptable Hotel (relatively clean and inexpensive). It does not have any facilities (other than a small restaurant/bar and a tiny pool). I would suggest staying in Tamarindo. I like Tamarindo best of all the areas in Costa Rica. I have been to Costa Rica 5 times and find the atomosphere in Tamarindo best. There is a nice small hotel there called Pasa Tiempo (not a big resort). I would recommend that over the Flamingo Marina. I have snorkeled off Flamingo beach. Saw lots of big sting rays and there are often turtles in this area as well. I have also done a couple sailing/snorkelling day trips out of Flamingo Marina. The snorkelling was OK, as the waves/surf in Costa Rica can be really large. I did not start diving until recently so I cannot comment on Diving. I have stayed in almost all the towns on the West Coast so if you have any questions, PM me.
