Hi

After all I decieded to go to Ocotal Resort in Guanacaste. I'll be leaving in April 9 and will stay for a week.

Both me and my wife would like to see sharks.

Perhaps somebody could help me

How is diving over there in April ? Good chance to see BIG things?

I've heard that the visibility is the major problem in Costa Rica. I have already heard that some people saying that during the rainy season the vis is better, others that say exactly the opposite.

Any hint on this...?

Thanks

Luis

We were there last May, staying in Playa Flamingo (in Guanacaste) and diving the Catalina Islands. It absolutely poured with rain about 18 hours a day and the visability underwater was dismal (around 15 feet). Good marine life -- including lots of sharks -- but you had to be on top of stuff to see it and there was no hope of taking pictures. :frown:

Pigletfish, where did you stay in Playa Flamingo? I am considering going there but have not researched accomodations yet.

We stayed at the Flamingo Marina Resort and dove with the on-site operator, Aquacenter. Flamingo Marina was cheap and clean and comparable in standard to a U.S. motel. Breakfast was included.

You'll probably want to rent a car if you stay in Playa Flamingo, because there is very little to do there -- but the much larger town of Playa Tamarindo is just a few minutes away.

I've been there in April and have had no problems with the weather and diving. Viz. was fine also. Yes, you will see lots of sharks white tips mostly. Ocotal is a nice place, 2 yrs. ago we dove with them and they were really good.

Thanks everybody

I saw several places before I decieded to go to Costa Rica(Madagascar, Belize, Roatan, Turcs Caicos and Freeport). I hope its worthing.

Divebuddy68, probably we will have the time to dive together. I will be leaving on the 17/4, but on the 16/4 I will be diving.
