Hey all,

Was just wondering how much one would need to survive per month on Utilia. Obviously I eat, smoke and drink (excessively sometimes, well I am English :eyebrow: )

So I need to know how much the following costs

Average price of a decentish meal

Price of a beer/Vodak/G & T

Price of a pack of smokes

Bottled water.

Cheers

Lempira is 18.8951 to US$

At Dave's Island Cafe L95.00 -L110.00 depending on weather you get the chicken or pork. Probably the best deal on the island IMHO. Meat, choice of 1 of 4 sauces, salad, potatoes & rice. You won't leave hungry. Drinks are reasonable as well.

At La Picolla L95.00 for basic pastas to L250.00/280.00 for steak or shrimp when in season. Little bit higher, nice atmosphere, drinks are a bit higher here, but not unreasonable. Wine is expensive everywhere.

At Evelyn's Grill L150.00 - L250.00 for Lobster when in season. Good food, cool front porch atmosphere. People watching a plus. Drinks reasonable.

At Driftwood L95.00 for chicken fingers & fries to L220.00. Good food, drinks a little higher then some places, but reasonable. Over the water atmosphere. Great Brisket on Sundays!

Drinks will vary depending on the bar/rest the night & what promotion is going on. Beers are around L17-20, Mixed drinks vary from L21-45. Wine is expensive everywhere... well expensive by our standards anyway.

Pack of smokes will run you L25 at Roses's & Johnny's, L28 at Samantha's (but they're open on Sunday), and a carton at Johnny's is the cheapest I've found.

Maybe Andy can chime in with prices & places down toward the East. I don't get down that way much lately.

Hope the info helps!

PS: There are a ton of other places. RJ's, Mango's, Bundo, Indian Wok, etc, etc, etc. I just listed a few I know to be consistently good. Basic range for a dinner out figure L95.00 - L250 depending on the entree.

If you're saving your allowance for the evenings festivities.....Baleadas run around L10.00 each :)

On the East End, there's RJ's with great burgers at 80 lempiras, and BBQ plates from 80-130 lempiras.

UDC cafe also has some good food from 60-100 lempirars a plate, and beers at 20 lempiras.

Mermaids Buffet, has a selection of food to go/eat, from 60-100 lempiras a plate as well.

Regards,
Andy
