Cost of living on Kauai

Looking to take a job working on Kauai and looking for some advice on cost of living
rent - ( apartment, room, studio, or sharing a house cost) food, transportation,

How much do you think i would have to clear a month to live a very simple life with no real thrills?

And any advice about the island would be very helpful

It is expensive here, but as you are from LA it won't be much of a shock - pretty comparable. rents are around 1200-1400 for a 2 bedroom, you can find rooms for rent around 600-700.
