Or dive tables and a roll-up snorkel (for those that decide to eliminate the mask mounted snorkel).

I always carried a dive table and a slate with my Adjusted NDLs on every dive. I never knew how deep I might go or how long I could stay. I would just refer to my ANDLs as I went along. In the old days, I could actually read a dive table underwater. No more (sigh)...

I'm not convinced about the strap mounted light holder. I'm sure it works ok but, as I seldom use a light, having it in the pocket will work just fine. The cannister light is serious overkill for my diving.

A pocket is also a nice place to carry a simple underwater digital camera. I have purposely left my Nikonos V w/strobe on the shelf in favor of a 'point-and-shoot' digital.

There are many uses for pockets. None of which are well accomodated by the absence of pockets.

WHat is the cost differce between a bp/w vs a vest bc say the zeagle ranger ltd.
i found the ranger in my size for 550.
Zeagle Ranger LTD BC 2008 Closout reviews and discounts, Zeagle
CAn i get a bp/w for 550 with everything i need to dive that is on the ranger.

The Ranger you linked ought to be about $400 with the 10% SB discount(should be ?free shipping too)...you might want to consider it, would a XL fit a 400+# person??---I have no idea...........

B/P and wing sound like a good deal, what name brand? he could just get standard webbing and make a harness.

It's a combo package:
OMS Aluminum Back Plate
HOG harness with "D" rings
Dive Rite Rec Wing

We've put a lot of these together for people, and it works great.

Take care,
George

What type of diving will you be doing? Always wearing the same exposure protection? The reason I havent bought a BP/W yet is that I dive in different things all the time...Pool with a rashguard, quarry in a wetsuit, quarry in a drysuit....in a Bp/W its not as easy to adjust for multiple settings. Moving D-rings, and shuffling the harness around. With the back inflate, I just pull the shoulder straps and viola, its adjusted. Plus for the cold diving in the midwest, I hate weight belts, and need extra weight....So I would need more weight and prefer integrated weights, which to add to a plate, add to the cost(same as a weight harness)....My personal choice was the Oceanic Excursion, due to it acts like a Bp/W with the back inflate, theres not much to it, unfortunately it doesnt have more weight in a steel backplate, but it gives me the integrated weights and adjustablity for MY DIVING. What type of diving will you be doing? This is the real question to help figure out what you need ;) Feel free to call me if you want to go over a bit more thorough or drive across the border :D LOL hope you have a truck and plow with all the snow we have been hit with and still have coming thru the weekend

There are lots of dealer incentives that we cant advertise...some lower prices even than what your looking at...This is a great time to buy from any dealer due to pricing and the holidays. We would all love to help you, even if you dont purchase from us, dont hesitate to call for some advice ;)
