Has anyone converted their gas Coltri MCH-6 compressor to electric? My compressor currently has an automatic shutoff. IF i used a magnetic starter and and a contactor attached to the automatic shutoff, I dont see an issue with switching the motors. What size motor does the electric version run? Thanks

Size the motor correctly, plumb a proper pressure switch into the magnetic starter, get the pulley sizes right and Bob's yer uncle. (I converted my K14 from gas to electric years ago.)

The single phase electric 220 motor has a starter off/on switch that comes standard with it and can easily be used with a pressure switch. The 115 model also comes standard with an off/on switch but draws so much -power, that you will have to add a supplemental starter.

heres the rating plate for my MCH6. I didnt convert it though I bought it this way

Great response, and a great example of crucial information that is missed by most with the MCH 6
That is the motor mounting base is built for the European market. The EU motor frame size is 90L .

That is 90mm from base to centreline of the shaft and L for longer length. Critically the motor mounting slots are spaced for the IEC standards and not, as for most American motors under the American NEMA frame standard.

In a word with an equivalent off the shelf American NEMA motor it won't fit the MCH 6 motor slots on the frame

And if he doesn't appreciate it now........ he sure will when he finds a Yankee motor dont fit.
All the infomation you need was in your photo.

Thanks for bring that to their attention. Last time I mentioned that, I got accused of trying to sell Italian motors.

The Yanks love "Made in China" too much.
But from a pragmatic approach that small motor from a Coltri compressor supplier is the only practical way with these small frame compressors. Add to which that Coltri also included the start capacitor, the stop/start push buttons and the hours run meter.
Its not a bad deal for the end user and a darn sight easier than drilling and grinding new slots for a home made Yankee motor, even if its imported from PRC.
