I have a DM that dives with either contacts or a RX mask, depending upon if she's having problems with allergies, etc. Either way seems to work good for her. It's a personal thing, but she said she really loves having a RX mask.

Good luck and have a great trip to the Keys.
Happy Diving,

Britt

My contacts are great--as long as they are not in the water.

I WILL NOT under any circumstances wear contacts while on scuba. It is more of a safety issue for me--if my mask were to come off for whatever reason and I lost my contacts, I'm as good as blind. I wouldn't be able to see hand signals from more than 5ish ft away.
You won't catch me with contacts while diving--generic prescription lenses in my mask do fine for me. They aren't my exact prescriptions but they're close enough not to make a huge difference.
