Going to dive Catalina this weekend with the CIMI crew again, anyone know what the conditions will be like on the Casino point side?

TIA!

Very wet. Its been a while since we've had a lot of rain so there may be some runoff affecting the viz.

Conditions yesterday were cold, wet and gale force wind warnings. Afternoon boats apparently were canceled. No divers at the park according to the CDS fill station.

However, I'm looking out today on an almost cloudless blue sky with no noticeable wind. I'll probably wait until tomorrow to dive, but who knows. A few weeks ago conditions actually improved after a rain.

So I braved the elements and was suprised that the weather held for the most part. Snorkeled on Saturday at Toyon and the viz was average. Had a nice close encounter with a Harbor seal with her pup which was awesome. She was weary but we kept our distance and let her come to us. Very cool seeing them underwater!

Did a dive today, cold water at depth of about 55 deg F. Still a ton of squid eggs and loads of Nudies including some large deep water side gills. A ton of bubble snails and Navanax having a feast. 2 big torpedo rays and 2 bat rays rounded out the dive. Viz was about 15-20ft.

Reports of viz in the diver park yesterday were highly variable: 5-15 ft from someone I've never seen diving there to 40 ft from someone who is a regular. Of course that may have been highly dependent on where in the dive park they were since a number of OW classes were being conducted over the weekend.
