Does anyone know what the visibility is like in the St Clair river, especially around Port Lambton?

Any info would be appreciated.

Hey Soggy : We usually dive under the bridge but we sometimes dive Corunna,Courtright and Port Lambton. If you get a south or south east wind for a few days the conditions are pretty good, the current is not as strong as the bridge and usually you may catch up with the Red Devil group on Sunday mornings. if you are looking at drifting park your car a couple of kilometers north most likely the first side rd. then drift until you come back to Port Lambton there is a pipe from the pump house at the park that you will see after approx 35 min, that is where you can exit just follow the pipe east to the shoreline. should park another car at the park by the pump house, if you send a private message to CDNScubaMoose he can let you know when they will be diving the area, I think next Sunday they are at Erieo doing a Project Aware, but they may do the Port Lampton dive during the week if conditions are good. I have found alot of old bottles doing the drift down river lots of fish, North alittle is the Wreck William Wolf its a pretty good dive also if the conditions are good with a south wind.

We got out for 2 dives Friday at Port Lambton.

First dive, following some very clear directions from CDNScubamoose, we went from Wards Line to downtown Lambton, about 1 km, and exited at the tile across from the grocery store. Viz was about 6 feet. We saw some nice big bass.

Second dive, we went to the William Wolf. We got in at the park about 200 m south and walked through the water, towing our gear, to the top of the wreck. Interesting wreck, with bass and some big pickerel, but viz was about 4 feet and the current was strong. So we stopped at the end of the first chunk of wreck, about 35 feet, and made our way back.

A nice day of diving. We'll do it again when the viz is better.
