Hi,

I have an Oceanic Atom 2.0, and although I'm happy with the computer I'm not very happy the way the wrist strap works.

On descend, as the neoprene compresses (5mm or 6.5 mm) the strap starts getting too loose and actually I almost lost the computer twice. If I "re tight" the strap at depth it will get overtight on ascend and can bend the pin that close it (happened to me twice).

I'd like to adapt some type of elastic band to keep it tight at all times, but I could not find one that fits and Oceanic does not offer this type of accessory. Did you also face the same issue? Any tips on how to solve it?

Thanks, Bruno

Look on some of the tech sites for a shock cord (bungee) wrist strap, probably some advice nand instructions on this board. Also you could just move the computer lower on your arm toward hand and off of the wet suit.

Finding and/or rigging a bungee-style strap may be difficult for a watch-style computer like that. Another option may be to go with a velcro watch band and cinch it tightly prior do diving.

I did a quick search of the DIY forum, but nothing turned up there for 'Oceanic Atom'. But, you may want to try posting in there anyway, those guys are pretty creative and very helpful.

I believe that Deep Sea Supply on this board makes a bungie cord mount for the Atom 2.0. I love my bungie mount. No worry about strap expansions and pins popping off the factory mounts.

I am a new Atom user myself - does it have to go over the wetsuit if you are not using gloves? I think wetsuit sleeve can be pulled back a little enough to secure the PDC around your wrist, is that correct? Or would that cause problems with the suit seal? Thanks.

If you are wearing a thick wetsuit (6.5mm) there is not much space left to fit the PDC comfortably. I removed the wrist strap and with a needle I managed to put a bungee cord through the strap pin hole, I think it was the best solution. Anyway I'll dive it it tomorrow and post pictures of the modification afterwards.

I've experience the same problem with my Vyper Air.

A DM I dove with showed me how stringing 3 elastic hair ties together and putting two of these on my wrist (arm going through the 1st & 3rd Band) then mounting the Computer between the bands around my arm I was able to use the 2nd (middle) band around the Computer to hold it securely in place.

It works like a charm but I've ordered the DSS Bungee wrist mount and look forward to its arrival.

There is some spring action on any standard wristband.
So on the surface it should be a bit more tight, it's not the strap, but the compression of the suit.
Some suits overhere have a small, velcro strap just to prevent this.
