I have been recently certified and am looking for some advice on a computer.

Disclaimer: before you flame me I work with a public service diver who is a master instructor. I have fallen in love with diving and going all out. He is going to fully certify me so we can do technical diving together.

I really don't know a whole bunch about tech diving yet but my question is what computer would be the best for me that can grow with my experience. I was looking for other opinions besides his (vr3).

I am using a hog setup with a single tank and air for now. The additional equipment purchase is going to be very expensive so I would prefer not to have to buy a new computer every year as my certifications grow beyond ow.

Thanks for the input

I think the main question you need to answer is if you plan on diving He (with a computer) in the future. There are several computers reasonably priced that will let you dive 2 mixes of Nitrox.

More than likely yes. My coworker is currently using a rebreather so I can see where this is going to go. He is a cave diving attic to say the least and my new buddy system.

Save yourself a lot of time an effort (and perhaps money) and just get the VR3. There really isn't anything else out there right now that can do what it does. Apparently, there is a VR3 clone under development, but that's as much as I know at the moment.

I agree with Perrone. I've had a VR3 for years. I dive OC mix and CCR. It will do it all. Neat thing is you can buy in at Nitrox and only pay for key codes to unlock the higher level functions when you get to that level. It is the only computer you will ever need.

Just out of curiosity, what do you guys use as backup to your VR3?
