Shearwater or Liquivision. Something with an OLED display and a standard algorithm, such as Buhlmann GF or VPM.

I just bought a Henrichs Weikamp Frog, took it diving yesterday for the first time. Very easy to use, very easy to read, small, can use standard AA batteries (I travel dive a lot). Customer service has also be excellent. Sold out of the EU they deduct the VAT which was nice. I really like it. So far so good.

If you have a use for a Shearwater then it really is an incredible computer. If not doing significant deco then it's more than you need.
Shearwater is really nice. I almost got on in the past. But it's really overkill for the wimpy diving I do these days.

May I ask what symptoms you experienced, you and your Dad?

My wife and I have Suunto Vypers. she had one instance where her computer started counting a dive after we were out of water and would not stop until it reached 999 mins. Awesome sac rate, but we were on land at the time. The only resolution was for us to remove battery to get proper operation again. Mine seems to be working great..

Just would like to know what to look for in my computers.. Thanks

Very similar. Mine starts counting dives as soon as you enter the water. Thanks for the idea! How did I not think of just removing the battery.
