I am in the market for a dive computer and love the idea of downloading the dive info into my computer. But.....I have a mac and am unable to find any manufacturer that makes the dive info software for the OS X platform. Any ideas or suggestions?

I've looked everywhere I can think of but without luck. I've also tried Suunto but they were no help either. So in the end, I saved my money and bought a Suunto Gekko with no PC download capability. If I do want to record a dive profile on my Mac, I manually enter depth vs time into a spreadsheet by reading from the Gekko's MODE/MEMORY/LOGBOOK/PROFILE function - this records depth every 30 seconds - and create a chart from there. Needless to say, the whole process is so very tedious that I only do it for dives of particular interest and then only rarely. No make that very rarely. But it can be done if needed.

I release today iDive 1.0b1. This software is in beta state, and is limited in various aspects, but work for me at this moment. This is a software for download inmersions from a Suunto Mosquito to a Mac with OSX. I don´t know if this work with oters Suunto computers. I append more features in the future.
This is freeware at this moment.

Thanks for the interest. I knew I couldnt be the only one. Its too bad the one computer out there that works like its supposed to doesnt have the software.

Thanks Jose...ill give that a try!!

I start programming that about a year ago, but i have no much time. More people have interest in it.
Suunto not have plans to support Macs, and apparently (I not contact with) not submit any info about protocols or algoritms. I want put calculated no deco time in iDive, but i don´t know the formula, any aid would be appreciated.

Sorry for my english

Jose

I have a AL PowerBook G4 (10.3.4) and a Sherwood Wisdom. I, too, was hopeful for Mac specific dive software. No luck, so far.

At least for the time being, I am using the Sherwood Download SW under Virtual PC. Seems to work fine. (Thought you do have to work with MS Windows.)

We couldn't find any computer manufacturer support for Mac's either, so we ended up getting a Sensus Pro. It's a small data recording unit that we carry in our BC pockets. It may not be as easy as the computer software, but it works.

That's looking nice Jose, it must have taken a lot of work, and I'm sure you'll find plenty of people interested in it. Typically, I've just decided to order a pair of Apeks Quantum (Dive-rite nitek duo) computers. I wonder if you're software can be adapted to other computer data streams.

Keep up the good work, it's great to see someone supporting the Mac.
