IS there a computer program or something along the lines of our dive logs that I could use to keep track of dives and to use as practice sheet as well for calculating dives and times? I wanted to have something on my computer as well as the dive log book. Thanks

I'm running the Aeris software to extract dives but keep my actual log in MS Excel. I set up all my calcs and personal stats the way I want them. I run worksheets for skin & scuba as well as year to year, contacts and a few other details. Hardcopy printouts go in my log binder.

Many of the computer logs are not open and if you change computer your data may be orphaned.

I use Divemaster from Reefnet. It's basically an electronic version of your logbook.

There's also several on-line logbooks. I've seen a pretty good one recently, if I can find the link I'll post it here.

If you are referring to the Aeris software, each dive is stored under a Computer device #. If you change computers, the dives are still there, but you won't see them because the device # is different.

If you modify the .mdb file and change the dives to the other device #, they will show up.

What do you alter on the .mdb file? Usually with a data base it is just a cut and paste, replacing the current file when starting from scratch. So if they are stored under a particular device number are you just entering the .mdb file and changing the device number to match whatever number it assigns to the device on the new computer?

Picasa 2
Is free software made by google. Put your days pictures in a folder with a name of the dive, and the software will soft your folders by date.
It also has a new function called "I'm feeling lucky" wich corrects some of the colours lost under water.

That's what I did. I think they were stored as sequential numbers, starting at 0 if I recall. Could've also been the Computers S/N. But it was pretty easy to spot since that value was consistant on every dive in the table.

SUUNTO DiveManager is a free downLoad..... you won't get the purty graphs with having a SUUNTO computer, but you CAN manually add all the rest of the info

Would you consider sharing the excel log program? My 10 yr old has started diving and I'm requiring him to keep a log, but it would be cool to have a simple elctronic format.

I stopped logging dives like 10 years ago..Sorta a shame..
