Why do we put the compass on the left? Is there a reason other than the right is already full? That's enough for me, but I was curious if there were other reasons. At one point I'd considered interference with scooter motors, but that seems to not be a problem if people mount compasses directly to them.

because compass points to where light points already. (this is how i configured mine)

Well I think it is because the compass is the instument you will most likely be looking at the most during a dive, maybe not so much for a cave or a wreck penertration. So keeping it on the same wrist as you would keep a watch seems most logical and natural. It is also the same side as the console that most people learned on. Now with the advent of compasses built into the computer, I would also say keep it on the left.

Me being right handed makes it easy for me to put on my arm like a watch. That is my reason.

If you don't put a compass on your scooter, you won't be able to see a compass while you are scootering unless it is on the left.

Well, technically you can see it while on the trigger since you can still see your depth gauge. However, it is kinda useless for checking direction unless it is on your left arm.
