Hmmm. Key Lime pie, my weakness!

Sounds like I have a bit of experimenting to do. It all seemed so easy to decide before, but now...

With my current BCD I seldom use the inflate/deflate feature; it's just along for the ride, so I'd love to ditch it.

I still think it's pretty straight forward. Do a "true" buoyancy check: no wetsuit, no air in BC, 1500 psi in tank. That's your weighting requirement. Buy a BP + STA which come within half a pound of that weight. Or, PM me when you get here and we can work on it at OF together.

I'm checking out the weights of the Deap Sea Supply Kydex plates as we speak. I may need some weight with them, but it won't be much if I do. The SS plate OF let me use left me a bit negative with the wing completely deflated, so the kydex shouldn't be too light, if any.

Do you use a SS plate, or an aluminum one?

Remember, also, to consider the AL80 tank. It will swing from about 3.5 lb. negative to 2.5 lb. positive during the dive if you almost empty it. So, it would be EXPECTED that the proper weighting would leave you "a bit negative" at the start of the dive and a bit positive at the end of the dive. You simply use your lungs instead of your BC to compensate for this. Easier than it sounds!

Okay, back to the original question...

We just got back after taking advantage of the 2 for 1 deal. Very good call!!! Nice little condo and a great dive operation.

I agree with Alex on the 4 questions posed by diverrex. I will add re: guided dives question...the DMs lead about 1/2 to 3/4 of the dive time and take you to the boat. They go on up, but let you finish off by yourselves in the vicinity. And there was plenty to see with the boat nearby on every site we visited.

Some of the boat trips were a little rough. I saw some green faces a couple of the days. I recommend you take your Meclizine the night before or at least an hour or two before your boat trips. Billy, don't be a hero. No one awards extra points to those who think they can tough it out...why have your otherwise beautiful day ruined???
