It's a year old but essentially brand new and never been in water. The story is that my old one developed a crack so I ordered a replacement which took forever to arrive -- as most Mares stuff does around here -- and in that time I got a smokin' deal on an Oceanic and didn't need the compass anymore. While it's designed for the Mares console, it could easily go on a retractor since it's got two rings where it would otherwise screw in.
