Starting to look for an additional cold water reg. I have been using an Apeks DB4+ first stage in combination with an XTX50 second for a while, and been very happy with that setup. What I'm wondering is if the MTX-R 1st stage offers any distinct advantages over the DB4+. I haven't been able to find a direct head-to-head performance comparison between the two

Both have the heat sink fins for cold water. What I can't see is the internal construction and design.

If you service regs or are familiar with these two, can you say whether they are basically the same (except for the swivel turret)? Do they both use the same servicing parts kit?

TIA!

The innards are identical, same part numbers, same service kits; the turret and the few extra molded fins on the body of the MTX-R are the only differences. In theory the extra fins/knurling on the MTX-R body could give it slightly better heat exchange but in practice I can't imagine it makes any difference.
