Just switched from USD regs to Poseidon. I grew very accustomed to the Comfort Mouthpiece (aftermarket) mouthpiece that I bought and molded. I've been told that the company that manufactures the mouthpiece doesn't make it for the Poseidons, bc Poseidon's bores are larger than other makes. Does anyone know if this is true? If not, where can I find a few?

It's true. You can supposedly use a SeaCure type II, but even the SeaCure packaging says that it may be difficult to get the mouthpiece over the Poseidon. As for the Comfo-Bite (which I thought was only available on USD/Aqualung), I don't know.

Hi EBS,
I have a number of Poseidon Jetstreams on which I've had installed SeaCure Sport model II (blue) mouthpieces. Officially SeaCure says their product won't fit Poseidons, unofficially it CAN be done, but it's not easy.......it takes a LOT of strength while at the same time slowly easing it on the 2nd stage orfice. The LDS owner is an ex-weight lifter and very technically proficient, and he got the knack of installing them after we trashed the 1st $30 SeaCure mouthpiece (it split while being forced on the 2nd stage)......note, the yellow insert HAS to be removed first, and it has to be eased on both forcefully, yet carefully......by the way, the other dive shops who've seen my regs have all been amazed to see them installed......one even called SeaCure to let them know their product CAN be made to fit Jetstreams, he was that impressed!

I don't know if the Xtream orfice is the same size as the Jetstream though. I've been thrilled at how well the SeaCures have performed on my Poseidons...I can't imagine diving without them.

AS ALWAYS, the readers of the board have been very helpful. I really appreciate all of your tips here. As a few have said, the custom mouth pieces are a nice add on, especially if you're doing any extended hangs.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Just use a little soap and it will slide on. you can also warm the regulator end of the mouthpiece to soften it.

Have you tried the OEM mouth piece? I have an Xstream dive and I really like it. It fits in your mouth differently then other brands.

Yes, it is different and even better than the other OEM mouth pieces. For me, however, the longer plane of the bite surface of the Sea Cure or Comfo Bite mouthpieces transfers some of the bite tension from the front few teeth to the molars. None of this is a huge deal.....but it's nice to be able to customize things to make the dive as comfy as possible.

We found the secret is coffee... Run the coffee maker with no coffee... and that is hot enough water to soften up the mouthpiece end without distorting it.
