January 24, 2013 6 PM Meeting Cafe Del Sol, 608 Garrison St. Lakewood, CO Underwater Wonders of the National Park Service - A New Dimension |
For our January meeting we will have Bret Seymour, AV Production Specialist, from the National Park Service. Bret will be bringing a 3D image system and show us 3D underwater videos that he has shot in our National Parks! For the past three years, the National Park Service's (NPS) Submerged Resources Center (SRC) has had a formal partnership with the Advanced Imaging and Visualization Laboratory (AIVL) at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) to create a new path in how our visitors experience the vast underwater resources within our National Parks. From the endangered elk horn corals of Virgin Islands NP, to the pristine reefs of Dry Tortugas NPS; the massive shipwrecks of Isle Royale NP to the kelp forests of Channel Islands NP; and the geothermal vents in Yellowstone NP to the submerged B29 Superfortress aircraft in Lake Mead NRA the NPS/WHOI team has brought these resources to the public through the immersive experience of three-dimensional (3D) high definition (HD) presentations. Come join us Thursday January 24th at cafe Del Sol. The restaurant needs an accurate head count so, Please Send your RSVP to: drmarkwolff@gmail.com |
