I'm considering buying a compressor in the near future and I have narrowed my search down to these two compressors. I have a friend that has the Alkin and he is pleased with it and has had no problems. I am looking at getting electric instead of gas though and the Coltri is offered in a 110v model. I like the idea of being able to take it places other than my home and 110v would be much more readily available. Anybody have any experience or opinions with either of these and care to share them with me.

I would not consider a 110V compressor. It would need a special 30amp circuit anyway. You might find one at a RV place or marina, but probably not. Common household outlets are usually 15amp.

To go on the road, you really need a gas engine. In your garage, 220v is best - no CO. You could swap out the motor for a gas engine for "big trips"?

The Alkins runs at almost half the rpms of the Coltri. And it has a heavier block. Long term durability is likely better. The Alkin also has a higher working pressure (4500psi vs. 3200). And its ok to fill storage cylinders with it, more than intermittent use. Which is good because 3cfm compressors are slow.

I have an 220V Alkin W31 and like it. 125 hours so far no issues.
