If I was going to get colored hoses I would stick with yellow for the Octo, black for the main reg., and if I had O2 it would be green.

But as stated before, the person will more than likely take the hose they see is working.
Don't know about the lifespan of colored hose. I work with Hydraulics and all of our H.P (5000 psi ) hose is black. I do know that industrial paint will eat away steel. We had to re-tube several transfer lines 10 years ago due to the paint eating pin holes in the steel lines. We replaced them with S.S and haven't had a problem since.

Just my 2 psi.

I found it funny to read that so and so "once bubbled" :rofl3:

BTW, coloured rubber is usually not as strong as black rubber because carbon black is used to strenghten it. The reason tires are all black

When I did dive charters for years and years, I had colored hose wraps so I could keep my reg sets easy to sort out. All the octos were wrapped with orange.
I don't use that stuff anymore - no reason to.
My 100% O2 deco reg housing and hose are green and my 50% rig has a yellow hose and reg housing cover. Makes it very easy to verify the contents at any depth.
The tech purists would of course decry this - my deco tanks are also marked for their given contents in big block letters.
No one else messes with my setup to minimize the idiot factor.
