Hi, I'll be going to Colombia in Sept to dive off the islands to the north. Does anyone know what the average water temp is during that time of year and what kind of exposure suit I should bring along?

Dude, be more specific...

where exactly?

Um... San Bernardo Keys around Tintipan Island.

I only know that it's Tintipan island which is the carribean/atlantic side.

nice... ive never been there but I have been to Baru island just north of there so I would imagine it is similar.... I have only been in the winter months and the water was never colder than 79 degrees, summer months i would guess 80 plus would be the water temp. All i had was a skin and did fine but i guess it depends on how much diving you do.
I would love to hear a trip report about the island and the diving when you return
How long r u gongto b there?

So I guess my concern that I'll get cold and should bring a 3mm full and a hooded vest rather than a 3mm shortie is probably not warranted? I dive dry pretty much only dive dry and I've never done warm water so I'm a little scared I'll get cold!! As odd as that sounds!

I will be in Colombia from Sept 17 until the 27th. I think I'm only doing 2 dives a day for 4 or 5 days and some time will be spent in Medellin and Cartagena. I'm very excited!

Not sure how you will adjust to the warn water diving, that is all I have ever done, and I do get cold easily. If I am doing a lot of diving in the warm water I will get cold and have to wear a 3m shorty. I would ask the dive op if they have any suits you can rent, most ops I have dove with do but Tintipan looks like a pretty remote place so they may not have an ample supply of diver to sustain rental equipment.
I’ve never been to Medellin but I know it is know for it beautiful women.
Cartagena is a beautiful city, some parts, if you like old city and artsy culture you will love the fort, forgot the name. I have heard since it became a heritage site they have fixed up a lot of the run down places, real-estate prices have skyrocketed and they have cleaned up the poverty and panhandlers inside and around the walls of the fort. I can wait to go back. The biggest down fall to Cartagena I found is there’s a lot of poverty so you will get mobbed with panhandlers trying to sell you everything from sunglasses to candy, almost anywhere you go.

Brian.. sounds very "cool." I need to get in a set of South American dives myself.
