I will be in College Station for 1 week, including a weekend, around the middle of June. Any recommendations on places to dive and dive buddies?

Are you coming to TEEX for training?

There aren't any local spots for diving. The closest "lake" is the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville. It's around an hour away. Viz can be decent or it can seriously suck. Max depth is around 22'. Temp will be in the mid-70s. The lagoon is pretty sterile. There isn't really any macro life other than some small cichlids that hang out on the bottom.

Lake Travis in Austin is 2.5hr away. You can get deep. Temp is in the upper 50's below 70' and viz is halfway decent for the area.

The Comal River is around 3hr away. Max depth is 12', average depth is 6'. It's spring fed so the temp is a steady 72ish. Viz is usually great with a lot of aquatic life and the opportunity for treasure hunting salvaging whatever people floating the river in tubes drop. It's one of my favorite dives in Texas.

Mammoth Lake is also around 2.5hr away. Lots of stuff to see. Viz should be ok in the middle of June. There are some other dive lakes in Houston, but I'd take the extra time to drive a bit further south to Mammoth.

If you want to see wildlife, the Comal or Mammoth would be your best bets.

The one LDS in College Station is closing sometime in June. Everywhere except the Comal has a dive shop very close by or on site if you need to rent gear.
