Hello All,

I have a question regarding a minor issue I have had lately with my right ear.

While diving warm water (can I go back now? :shakehead:) my ears are fine. Also, I have no trouble while diving cold water with a 7mm hood. However, the water has been just warm enough here lately to dive without a hood. Low to mid 60's. I have found at this temprature my righ ear gives me a moderately sharp pain for the first several minutes of the dive. At first I thought I was having trouble equalizing but I found that this "feels different" and does not ease if I ascend.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Steve

Cold water can cause your ears to close down some. This can make equalization more dificult or give you "ice cream" headaches.

Solutions:
Always wear a some sort of hood, even one of those 2mm skull caps

Try Doc's ProPlug vented ear plugs (reduces water entry into your outer ear canals).

Try a ProEar Mask (it has earcups that keep your ears dry).
