I too am a certified Scubapro Tech and I totally disagree, If I have my choice of Scubapro regs I'm going to take the MK25 every time.

I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with. There's no question that the MK17 is more freeze resistant than the MK25; that's what it was designed for. That doesn't mean that MK25s always freeze in cold water. If you read my post, I clearly say that thousands of cold water dives have been made with the MK25 for years. There's also no question that both 1st stages supply plenty of air at a very consistent IP, which means that their breathing characteristics are essentially identical in real world situations.

I also like SP balanced piston 1sts, I have quite a few, although they're all older (MK5/10/1520). I'm not trying to tell the OP that the MK17 is "better" than the MK25. I only object to the false statements that the MK25 "breathes better" and that the MK17 "breathes drier" in fact I don't even know what that means.
