I just got my first light, a Princeton Tec Miniwave LED. I also got along with it a coiled clip to attach to the BC. It's the one in the pic below. Anyone know what to do with the two things at the opposite end from the brass clip? There's the keychain ring and also the loop with tightening clip.

Thanks.

I think the split ring or loop can be attached to the light.......

Then you can use the brass clip to attach it to your BCD........

I guess.......M

I don't know specifically what they are for. Maybe tying the light to, but; they and the whole lanyard looks like a real potential for entanglement if you dive anywhere fish lines, nets, etc. may be present. Just my opinion.

Use the brass clip to attach to your BCD D-ring,,,,then use the split ring to attach to the flashlight to, and the loop is to put the hand holding the light threw, and then slip up the tightener for extra security near your wrist. Just my guess from the photo you sent, I don't use such a thing. Good luck.

Thanks, guys. So the split ring goes around the physical plastic of the light, same place its wrist strap goes through? And the lanyard thing is to push the light's wrist strap through?

IS brings up a good point.......be careful if you decide to use it.....

I had a similar lanyard that I bought for my camera with clips on both ends......

Now it sits in my "extra stuff" bin.......

I have a simple SS snap attached by line on my gear now, when I am not using the light or camera it is securely clipped off on my harness......

If I understand you right......you should remove 'either' of the lanyard wrist things----you only need one, I would stick with the one attached on the flashlight from the factory myself.. You are correct that the split ring goes threw the physical portion of the lights handle bottom. I persl. do not use or like these coil outfits (just my opinion)....look at my bio. and you will probably figure out why. Best method is to return the coil outfit to the dive shop, attach a SS clip the the flashlights handle end for attaching to your BCD D-ring when not in use....then use the provided wrist lanyard,,,,much cleaner and simpler. Be safe and have FUN!!! Great light by the way, I own a larger version/LED for recreational diving...love it!

I have one of those for my video housing - it's a lot heavier than your light. What I do is clip the brass clip to a d-ring on my chest and I've removed the split ring - I forced a locking caribiner through where it was which goes through a hole in my housing handle. The lanyard stays attached to the housing all the time - I clip/unclip it to hand it to a crew member while entering/exiting the water. The difference being that I don't splash with my housing but obviously you can with the light.

Once or twice I've needed to drop the housing mid-water so it just hangs below my knees till I retrieve it.

For no reason at all, I run the loop through the caribiner also. I don't trust the loop by itself though.

I'd vote for "take them back to the dive shop and do this instead" How to Attach a Snap - Dive Gear Express

Thanks again for all the feedback, guys. So I'm not terribly worried about it getting caught on things. Look at how far out my hoses come. :)

If you guys have methods you prefer, I'd love to see pics of them.
