The kelp is very thin at White Point right now. I wonder if he was using a speargun to catch lobsters and didn't want to get caught. The lifeguard on duty there drives through the lot around 4:30-4:45 each day to let everyone know that the gate will be locked in thirty minutes. I wonder if the diver wasn't actually stuck but scared to get out of the water. It would be next to impossible to get stuck at the surface at White Point.

Stuck in what kelp is my thought. Due to the extremely warm water from The Blob, kelp has been essentially non-existent compared to what it would be during "normal" temperatures this time of year. Night diving solo and probably with very little experience. Glad he was rescued though.

I was once "trapped" in kelp on the surface, out of air, at Pt Lobos in Carmel, and after a lot of exhausting kelp crawling, I felt like my heart was going to explode and had half a mind to give up and seek assistance....

But that was in the height of the late summer kelp, where it was like a shag carpet covering all of Whalers Cove. Cant imagine December's kelp being something you couldn't find a path through. yup "fishy."

I always wanted to go for a ride in a helicopter not sure I want to that badly though.
