Just a quick question about exertion in current diving. I have been reading that a co2 buildup can occur when a diver overbreathes his regulator or when he is over exerting during a dive. I often dive in currents and have been giving some thought to investing in split fins or higher performance fins to minimize the finning effort. I do not really understand the physics of the co2 build up and am having trouble finding information on this subject.

Any information would be helpful.
Thanks
