I got a very old, non functional first stage from a friend. It is DIN with yoke adaptor stuck to it. I can see a lot of corrotion, green and white stuff. Since we don't need to save the regulator, I decided to put it into dilutted CLR solution (1:1). Immediately, I can see CLR is bubbling at the green/white build up, but show no visible reaction at the chrome and brass portion.
Fast forward this morning, I rinsed off the 1st stage. All the build up has been eaten away from CLR, the chrome is shiny, and to my surprise, the din adaptor now can come off with some force.
So my question is, is this CLR stuff any good or bad to the metal? I found it very good at removing build up. Does it do any hard to the metal?
