Hi;

I'm driving to Charlotte from WV this week to visit a friend and thought I might make a side trip out to the coast to dive. I guess my "range" would include anywhere from Wilmington to Charleston, but it looks like the closest spot is around Hilton Head/ NC-SC border area. Any suggestions? Current temp? (65F maybe)
Thanks!
Matt

I am diving in Myrtle Beach / Little River on Wednesday, May 25th. Barracuda Alley with Coastal Scuba...7 AM - 1 PM, $67. If anyone wants to come down Tuesday afternoon or what ever there's room in the hotel.

Yeah it is a 3 - 4 hour drive to Charleston. I guess depending on how fast you drive. I recently had a job offer in Charleston and was doing the calculations for the Charlotte to Charleston drive. :D If you visit Charleston you could check out diving the Copper River for the prehistoric sharks teeth.

The "QUICKEST" drive to the coast to dive from Charlotte is Willmington, then Charleston, then Myrtle Beach. The number of miles isn't always the quickest, it's what you have to go though to get there. I can get to Wilmington in 3 1/2 hours, Charleston in around 4 and Myrtle Beach in 4 1/2 and it all has to do with the traffic. The roads to Myrlte Beach are horrible. Charleston is a very close second to Willmington. I'm talking about starting from I-77 on these trips.
