Besides a pool, what is the closest dive spot to Chicago that isn't iced over?

France Park is probably iced over, how bout south of Indy?

Mermet is too far...looking for a place that is driveable in a day and worth it.

Gilboa iced?

Check in please...

:)

For sure, try Bonne Terre!

Yeah, About 100 Feet Offshore Lake Mi...

Bonne Terre is not an option...too far for a one day thing. The Lake...ehhh, that is possible, but am looking for something from shore with more predictable entries/exits at the moment.

Test diving new equipment/setup from a boat in Lake Michigan in Feb is not my cup of tea.

I haven't been out in the past 2 weeks as my regs have been in for service. I'm not sure if France Park and Blue Springs are iced over or not. They weren't two weeks ago, but we have had a good bit of cold weather in the past two weeks. I'll try and find out.

Gilboa is not iced over.......

Zip Gloves, P-Valve (that's gonna be tense), and I'll prolly be bringing along my 30ft Pony to be slide slung..something I've never done. I also need to shoot a couple lift bags, another first for me.

But since I've havent dove cold water since last May I just want to DoItEasy...know what I mean?

I also gots me a DUI Warm Neck Hood. This is all about getting myself prepped for my rebreather training. The last thing I want is to have all this new stuff AND task loading with a rebreather. To me that sounds stressful.

Other than a pool, I'd suggest your local bathtub. :) Why not head to you nearest indoor pool and try out your stuff? If you can do it in 10 feet of water, you can easily do it in 80 feet.
