Does anyone know if the clear Aqualung comfo-bite mouthpiece would work on the Scubapro 109's? I have the black ones and they are too big to fit on the regulator so was wondering if the clear ones were smaller in diameter to fit on the 109.

Currently I'm having to use an Atomic mouthpiece but all my other regs use the comfo-bite and I really, really like the comfo-bite and would really like to use it on the 109. It's such a big deal that I'm contemplating moving the 109 (upgraded to balanced adjustable by the Scubapro shop) to my backup!

I don't want to order a bunch just to have them not work.

Thanks,
J:

Want to sell me any black ones you have?

I have heard that the blue ones are softer and will work on a 109.

I use a clear comfobite mouthpiece on one of my 109s. I added an o-ring at the metal lip where the mouthpiece attaches and it seals just fine. I don't remember the o-ring size, but it was the 1/16 inch width material and diameter just large enough to fit.

Well, I just pulled out one of my spare 109s and my o-ring stash. An 021 is too large and the next size down I have is an 018. It has to stretch a bit to go on but must have been what I used. An 019 should work also and maybe a 020 if you can keep it in place as you install the mouthpiece.

The clear and the black are the same ID.

The black are available at Dive Rite Express and SCUBAStore.

I wanted to put one on my Jetstream, but the ID is too small.

Hey all I think I may have a solution. I'm going to go to the hardware store and see if I can find some heat shrink tubing. Cut small strips to go around the reg and shrink it with a heat gun then see if the diameter increases enough to attach the mouthpiece. If it doesn't work then I will try the O-ring trick.

Thanks everyone,
J:

Wedivebc & Cmburch,

I have several generic mouthpieces I ordered but are too large for my 109. I might even have a comfobite or two. I'm at work right now and can not measure them, but I would like to sell or swap them for something I can use. Let me know the OD dimensions of your regulator mouthpiece fitting and I will see if what I have will work.

You know, I just had a birthday and I guess that means another batch of brain cells have taken a permanent leave of absence. I was thinking seacure mouth piece, not comfobite. But maybe the o-riing will work with the comfobite also if necessary.

It's hell when you get old....

According to Seacure's website http://www.seacure1.com/regulato.htm a standard mouthpiece is

Standard Lip – (1-1/4" x ¾") takes a SeaCure I
Oversize Lip – (1-7/16 x 7/8") takes a SeaCure II

The site also has an Excel work sheet with aprox 45 regulators and the Seacure mouthpiece that fits them.

I think I have at least one Seacure II (used) too.

Thanks for the offer. I just placed an order at SCUBAStore for a bunch of small parts. I ordered a couple of black comfo-bites to replace all my yellowed clear comfo bites. I will just trim the new Jetstream mouth piece so it fits for now.
