I also ultrasonic my hose ends - being sure to remove all o-rings beforehand - including the one inside the LPi Quick Disconnect (don't forget the schrader valve also!)
Any acid based cleaner like vinegar will eat away plating, so you have to be careful on those older hoses... but I do find that acid based cleaners do a MUCH better job then less aggressive cleaners like Blue Gold. At the moment, I use Trident's Ultrasonic powder - 2-3 tablespoons in a 1/2 gallon heated machine.
