Wow is right. Nice to have a buddy at a time like that. Really nice footage; looked like a nice calm clear day also. Just a question; Did they start at the sand at the bow of the sub? That was a whole entire topedo wasn't it?

Im really impressed with that footage some of the best I've ever seen form the inside of a WW2 wreck.

Awesome footage, have one question... who was the lcky guy that got to be ram rodded like a musket ball in the hatch lol I saw that and was like no way in H. E. double hockey sticks. Looks as though he got to exit thru a bigger hole anyhow. :D still loved the video. thank you

This was a collection of clips showing some highlights over the past years. The lucky soul (lucky is right) is none other than Captain William G. Palmer. Some call him "Wigglesworth". I have seen him be pushed into tighter spots and then yanked back out by the manifolds at 130" in the dark. He is at home down there. Anyway he has a vast library of clips and movies. Alot of it is from places that most people would never go so it is a rare sight. These shots are from the U-701, U-85 and U-853 in no specific order. Soon we'll have a website up to share more.

The torpedo is in the forward torpedo room of the U-853. I saw footage from the 853, 701, and I think, 352. In the U-853, the torpedo has fallen apart and there is not much left to see, unless you know what you are looking at. One thing to keep in mind is how tight those hatches are, which is why I prefer to torpedo loading hatches. Also, note that the torpedo tubes shown in the U-853 are the upper tubes. The lower tubes are silted in.

I have Hi8 of the 853 (forward torpedo room to aft) 352 Forward torpedo tubes to after control room hatch) 85 (out side) and even the Tarpon (out side). One of these days I'll figure out how to copy it and upload.

Ah Gilldiver. If you have a fire wire port on your cam all you need is a PCI fire wire card $7-15 and there is plenty of free software to run the cam with. And a simple fire wire cable $5. Hope you figure it out as it is quite easy though.

Thanks for the torpedo info.
