2 dives today. Dive one were 6 divers and dive 2 were 8 divers. Air temps were fine. We were concerned a bit about vis given the horrible storm front that moved through a couple of days ago. Shallow vis was 4' (except around the plane and rocks where it was 8' or so). Vis below 30' was better @ 10-12'.
Dive one was 65min. @ max depth of 88'. We dove the 30' ledge, angel statue, trench, 80' wall, 3 big rocks, plane, ski boat and dam rocks. Schools of small fish on the 30' ledge, 3 big rocks and small bass and sunfish on the plane.
Dive 2 was to the 3 big rocks (lots of small fish), missle (wing tank), ski boat, plane (fish), 40' ledge (this was awesome - blueback herring bait ball of hundreds of fish), and dam rocks, 53min dive time with max depth of 83'.
To our Atlanta and Nashville new friends - I enjoyed diving with you today!

Andy thanks for showing me your site, it was great, I was late for celebrating my passing my hyperbaric boards and planning to set cavern training for my team , I am looking so forward to spending more quality with you all, I did enjoy myself and thank you for tolerating my tardiness. I enjoyed you all and hope to spend more time with you all . cheers Manny

Andy,

Also thanks for showing me the site; next time I am in the area I will be diving wet for sure. Can you elaborate on how you got the plane and ski boat in the water? Did the CORPS have to approve it?

Manny,

It was fun diving with you as well.

Andy, what are the temps down around the plane now? My brother (who lives on the lake) and I were waiting on the water temps to warm up some. I think he said the surface temp was maybe 65 - 70 degrees. If the temps where warm enough for us, was thinking maybe diving the plane on on Memorial Day weekend when I am back down there again.

The Augusta Dive Club sank the plane with Corps permission many years ago (25 years or so). The story I heard from a Ranger about the ski boat was that it was sunk by an intoxicated individual who had stolen it earlier in the day. Last I heard he was getting free room and board courtesy of the State. Since it is at a bit of depth and not a navigation hazard, the Corp saw no need to remove it. Enjoyed diving with you and Bryan.

Low 60s on the plane but warming fast. There is a fair bit above 35' to see. Rope to the right off of the plane takes you to the bouyancy course and ski boat.

Enjoyed diving with everyone again. Nice to meet the rest of you guys as well. I will be back again this summer and will let you know when I am. If anyone is ever in my neck of the woods feel free to hit me up to dive or grab a beer or 2.

Cheers,
Josh

Yeah diving with the school of blueback herring as we did on the second dive is always very cool for a freshwater diving experience.
