After tolerating about as much culture as I can stand (dinner theater Friday night - Bus Stop - not a bad performance, the Augusta Symphony's outdoor performance under the stars last night), it was back to diving today. It's just that I'm just not used to wearing something black that you can't pee in if you need to :D.
Three of us ended up diving the lake today. Vis was 8-15'. Just before the 1st dive I commented to M., "you know, we are supposed to be seeing the herring this time of year, I wonder where they are." Saw them - 1000s during our safety stop at the end of dive one. Yes, I have been diving this lake too much:shakehead:. Dive one was 1:05 with max depth of 99' (36% mix). M. led the first half of the dive as he was working on his navigation. He is pretty solid with this. We dove to the three big rock, small fish here, past the pool filters to the 40' ledge -moire fish. Then it was down to the angel statue, through the trench and down to the 100' wall. We dove the entire 100' wall. It was then a turn south to the north wall, big stump, a drop down to the two big stumps that have been loaded with fish lately. Then onward through the forest to the trench, 40' ledge (big bass) and upward to our safety stop and swim with the herring. Something about swimming with the huge number of herring in good vis just reminds me salt water diving (yes I need a salt fix). Dive two was to the three big rocks and down to the missle. What a surprise here - the herring were here at this depth - 74'). After a brief swim with the herring -they swim away from bubbles - it was on to the 80'wall, down to a small portion of the 100' wall, through the forest, trench, angel statue, 40' ledge and a safety stop. Dive time (36 mix) was 50 min, max depth 97' (in 80s this dive). Dive three was to the three big rocks, 40' ledge (huge bass and small fish here), to the angel statue, trench, 63' ledge, 80' wall south to the missle and upward to the plane (bass and large bluegill here). Then a swim along the bouyancy course (large gar swimming through one of the squares) and onward to the ski boat. On the way back, to shore and our safety stop, more bass and another gar. Dive tiime was 1:05 with max depth of 82'. Nice day of diving.
