Six of us dove today including one Lake Lanier Looney Bird. I arrived early this morning at 8:15am. with my cup of coffee. Interesting morning, some fog on the lake, the wind was still when I arrived and it was mostly cloudy. Then the front moved through and the wind kicked up with 1-2' seas on the lake. Fortunately this blew through fairly quick taking the clouds with it. The wind die and so did the waves. We dove about 9:30a. Sun was still quite low, will be moving our dive time back next week probably. Dive one was 92' for 1:02. We dove down to the plane and onward to the missle, We swam the 80' wall. It was a dark first dive and we needed lights. The first part of the 80' wall was nice with vis maybe 15+. The second part (shallower part of the wall had the low vis dropping down the wall so we stayed deeper. We swam the entire 100' wall before turning southeast and upward through the low vis (from 65' to about 45', vis was as low as 3-4'. We went past the north wall, big stump and upward to the pipeline and stumps where we saw a nice alligator gar, then dropping down to the 40' ledge. A large bass was seen at the budda statue. We then went up for an extended 15' safety stop swim along the hydrilla. Lots of small fish today. Dive two was spent mostly around and in the plane, bouyancy course and the ski boat. A few small bass seen and a small catfish who is making his home inside the 2nd wing near the plane. A couple of us with extra air finished the dive with a drop to the missle, up to the 3 big rocks (vis clearing here), saw a large cat near the pool filters, and then cruised along the 40' ledge. We dropped down to the angel statue (vis is clearing here (8') and on to the trench (maybe 4-5' vis) before turning east and south back to the 15' dropoff and exit. Dive was 1:06 with 71' max depth. U/W Pumpkin carving tomrrow with the folks from Neptune Dive and Ski. Some of us are making a dive at 10:30a before the carving begins. Not a bad day.
