Not sure if I put this in the right place but just found out tonight that I'm heading to Vortex (more likely) and Ginnie Springs soon (flying in on Sunday night). Vortex seems like a nice place to get her back in SCUBA shape after a knee replacement and she likes the fish there. With all the precip lately in the area how is the clarity in Vortex? I was hoping to bring my mom there to get her back in SCUBA shape before hitting Ft. Lauderdale/ Pompano. Is Vortex fine at this time for diving? Can I expect clarity like it typically would be? Thanks!!!

I have been monitoring the conditions and so far a few places have started to become tannic.
Ginnie rarely blows I an not sure of Vortex but there are some others that do suffer from river intrusion from high water.
Troy Springs is amazingly beautiful a bit of along walk but very pretty.
If you can check on Face Book find the North Florida Spring Association, NFSA they keep an eye on conditions and post them daily.
You can also ask for current conditions reports.

There are some really pretty places for OW dives a beautiful drift dive on a river the name escapes me but I will get it for you.
Manatee springs is great but you have to get there early as it fills up quickly.
I have enjoyed many OW dives with my non-caving family be patient and talk with others.
We found some really neat spots.

Vortex & Ginnie are clear. Only the river caves are affected, OW dive sites are in good shape. Even Madison (cave site) that is normally the first to go under with high river levels is in great shape right now.

Vortex is rarely affected by rain. And we really haven't had enough rain recently to do anything to it. In fact, I was there a week and a half ago while it was raining and we had the best visibility I've seen there. Of course, we were the only divers there so no one else to stir up the silt.
