I just ordered a significant upgrade for the drysuit that I am now diving...

Old Drysuit...

Basic DS-1, light material, suspenders, no other options

New Drysuit (err.... uh... Cadillac)....

Andy's DS-2 (diagonal front zip)
Cordura
Field replaceable wrist seals on dry glove rings (one day I may actually decide to dive dry gloves)
Relief "P" Valve
Kevlar Knee Pads
Bellows Pockets on Right Side
Suspenders

Now, let's just hope that this thing doesn't leak when it comes in!

Congrats on the upgrade Brian. Sounds like a pretty nice suit kind of reminds me of my DS-2 pretty descent. It should provide you many excellent dives.

Doing roughly the same on a present for myself this year ;) Drysuit and all the trimmings are on their way.

I remember trying to help a former linebacker (or was it defensive lineman) into that thing too. LOL

Large shoulders and Diagonal zip drysuits are an interesting combo.

As I recall it worked well for you once we got into the water though.

Is yours is still dry?

Haven't gotten the use out of it that it desreves yet, but yes I manage to stay dry. Using a diagonal zip is all about installation into the suit and bulk of undies. I played cornerback in high school but always had a passion for the middle of the field, there's nothing like the collision with the back. What glove system did you get? I really like the Viking system that I had gotten from Frankenmuth Tom.

I guess that I will figure that out. I didn't much care for the diagonal zip at drysuit days, but that was only because I insisting on trying to get the wrong arm out first. LOL It is easier to get into the suit while my buddy is getting ready with the diagonal zip though. Besides, with this one I don't have to take the whole drysuit off to answer nature's call, LOL.

I got the WR-2 Installed Sleeve Rings. They are basically the same thing that Tom had at the meet and greet. They are a hard ring with a quick remove/replace ring holding on the wrist seal. That allows for rapid field replacement of wrist seals without glue. The major difference is that Andy's installs them for me from the start.

When you get a chance to use that drysuit again, let us know.

Very cool, er dry! Brian. Can't wait until I actually get back in the water and see you using the new suit.

Enjoy!

No Brian, a cadillac would be a hefty scooter (Gavin, SS, or the new X-scooter). You woul think that someone who drives a mustang would understand this....wait a tick...you drive a ford, nevermind :D

This drysuit thing is for pansies...however, if the wife gets what she wants, then I'm going to be a pansy too!
