Current was very mild and spotty and vis was about 35 feet I would guess. Water temps were the usual high 80's. No waves at all and for a Monday I was surprised how packed the reef was with dive boats and charter boats. We did get a great buoy right by the statue and there were some easy dives on the outer edge that were packed with marine life following the mooring buoy anchors.

I really like Christ of the Abyss for shallow reef diving, its one of the best i've done personally.

I want to get a picture there to piss the GF off lol!!

As for the mutton he was just teasing you as I believe that’s a no take zone. I once had a grouper do the same thing to me and he didn’t stop until I followed him from the patch reef to the main reef where he still followed me for awhile. Very cool none the less.

Fish ID’s
1) burmuda chub
2) porgy (correct)
3) grunt (any different kinds)
4) a type of wrasse I think
5) filefish
6) different grunt species

but just cautionary be careful what you touch corals can sting badly
 
Yes for sure a no take zone, I enjoy diving places like this too.

Thanks for the ID bro and thanks for reading. One weekend if you want I will meet you down there and we can go out to the reef on my boat and get that pic for your GF :)
 
I love pic centric post like many of yours! It gets me diving while on the surface lol.

Also that “baby eagle ray” is actually a yellow stingray quite common around south Florida.

BTW If it can be caught on rod and reel I probably can ID it lol.

Might take you up on that on day.
